Souvenir teaspoons lay at the ready, along with a dry biscuit or two.

Slippers scrape along linoleum floors; kettles shriek and clocks click.

Chipped teacups clink out of cupboards and are then brimmed with heated water that babbles.

Wooden chairs grind out. Out to support frail, lonely old bodies.

I want to sit next to them. Together with the peeling wallpaper, stained tablecloths and untold stories.
